Years ago there was an inventor in Switzerland that came up with a new way for watches to operate. He was excited because it was far more accurate and kept time so much better than the old way. With great enthusiasm and excitement he took his invention to watchmakers all over Switzerland but no one shared his excitement. His invention was so different it frightened them and they couldn’t see the necessity of doing things so differently.

Though he was very disappointed he knew his invention was good so he did not give up. He took his invention to different investors in a country that was hungry for industry and drawn to new technology. He found a group of people who were excited and willing to take on something new to improve watches for the future. The technology was Quartz movement and the country was Japan. Needless to say most watches today are Quartz movement and made in Japan.

Sometimes methods have to change to improve and we can’t be so afraid of different that we completely miss God in what we’re doing. Our community is largely unreached for Christ and if we don’t change our methods we are going to become completely irrelevant. I believe you genuinely want to reach people with the Gospel and see them spend eternity in Heaven. We will have to do some things that we never have before. The message of the Gospel has not changed but our methods must change to effectively reach people.

Please pray with me and the Vision Team as we try to follow God’s leadership to reach our community and beyond for Christ. Join us in February as we share what we believe God has put on our hearts so that we can move forward with Him. Thank you in advance for loving God so deeply that you are willing to make changes to reach beyond our walls to the lost.
