It is my privilege to serve as pastor of this great church! We are excited about what God is doing here and what He is going to do in the future. Though we have not been in Ellijay a long time we certainly feel at home here and consider this our home. I can tell you that you won’t find a friendlier more caring group of people than those here at Pleasant Grove. Come and worship with us and you will see that there is a group of people who love the Lord and love others. I look forward to the opportunity of meeting you and hearing your story of how God placed you in Ellijay.
I am originally from Cobb County, Georgia, and grew up in Kennesaw. I attended Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, and graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education (BME) degree with a concentration in trumpet. I later went on to Auburn University and graduated with a Master of Education (MEd) degree with a concentration in choral music.
It has been my joy to serve as the Minister of Music here at Pleasant Grove since 2002. Pleasant Grove is a warm, friendly, and very talented church that loves Jesus. I have been blessed to be a music minister in several churches in north Georgia for over thirty years. My wife Gennie and I have been married for thirty-five years and have three wonderful adult children.
Our family would like to give thanks to PGBC and to everyone who has helped with our transition here to Ellijay from Romania. The awesome response from the church body has been overwhelming, and we truly feel blessed and welcomed here. I am reminded of the Apostle Paul in response to the church at Philippi when they generously provided for him. He responded with: “Not that I seek the gift itself, but I seek for the profit which increases to your account” (Philippians 4:17). These are our sentiments also for PGBC. Our primary goal at this point is to get to know you, and become accustomed with what is happening here at Pleasant Grove. We look forward to serving the Lord together with you as we partner to reach families and youth for Christ.
Your brother in Christ,
I worked for three years as a secretary for Johnstown American Co. I then worked from 1984 – 1990 as a customer service representative for a State Farm Insurance agency. From 1992 – 2002 I was the office manager for Kays Financial Advisory Corp.
In 2002 I decided to retire to the mountains. That decision brought me and my husband Dave to Ellijay. In 2004 I began working for Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The church office has been a wonderful place for me to work because the members of PGBC are so special.
I went to school for computer study and after graduation I moved to Chattanooga TN. I worked as a secretary at Chattanooga State Technical College in the Practical Nursing Department. I retired from there in 2010 and I moved to Ellijay to be near my parents, who are members of this church.
I came to work as church secretary at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in September 2011. Moving to Ellijay was a great decision for me and getting this job has been a blessing.
