How is your prayer life?  I hope I am not alone in finding it a struggle to always stay focused when I pray.  It is so easy for me to get distracted and find myself wandering off chasing a rabbit while I am praying or more accurately ceasing to pray and just wandering in thought.  However, in spite of the fact that I find it challenging to pray I am not going to give up on prayer.  I know we are instructed to pray in God’s Word.  Indeed Paul tells us to pray without ceasing!  Jesus considered prayer important enough to teach the disciples how to pray in the Lord’s Prayer.

So again I ask you, how is your prayer life?  Are you making an intentional effort to get before the Lord every day to pray?  Even after dealing with people all day Jesus considered prayer important enough to get away from the disciples and go and spend some time talking to the Father.  We have to withdraw from the things around us and get alone with God and I hope you are doing that each day.  I know that is a challenge and it is a challenge for me but I also know that it is necessary and God desires that time with me…I need that time with Him.

There is so much going on in the world around us these days.  From the tragic shooting in Orlando to the gender issues in public restrooms we are being bombarded by evil.  Changing politicians is not going to change the issues or fix them in any way.  However, changing hearts and redeeming lives will change things.  We need God to send revival to take place in this country and I am convinced that will only take place when we who are called by God’s name are willing to cry out to Him earnestly desiring His presence in our lives and in this world.

Let’s pray for God to send renewal and revival to Pleasant Grove Baptist church and as we pray let’s ask God to let it start in our own heart first.  May our hearts desire be to know Him more and to see Him make Himself known in our lives and in the community around us.  God wants to do great things in and through us but He won’t force us to let Him.  Pray for a heart that is submitted to Him so that He can do whatever He needs to do to shine through us.
