Description
What does it mean to live a life of faith? In Romans 4, the Apostle Paul explains that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ, not through our works, religious traditions, or personal accomplishments.
Using Abraham as an example, Paul shows that righteousness comes through believing God rather than trying to earn His favor. This chapter challenges us to examine where we place our trust. Are we depending on our own efforts, looking for signs, relying on religious rules, or allowing doubt to weaken our faith?
Our salvation rests not in what we can do for God, but in what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. Join us this week as Pastor Dan Rosser leads us through Romans 4 and reminds us that we are saved by faith alone in Christ alone.
Sermon Points
1. People Place Their Faith in Works.
It is easy to believe that our good deeds or personal efforts can make us right with God. Romans 4 reminds us that righteousness is not something we earn; it is received through faith.
2. People Place Their Faith in Signs.
Sometimes we want visible proof before we are willing to trust God. True faith rests in God’s promises and character rather than depending on signs to determine whether He can be trusted.
3. People Place Their Faith in the Law.
Religious rules and keeping the Law cannot earn our salvation. God’s Word points us to our need for His grace and the righteousness that comes through faith.
4. People Place Their Faith in Doubt.
Doubt can cause us to focus on our circumstances instead of God’s promises. Abraham’s example reminds us that faith means trusting God, even when the outcome seems impossible from a human perspective.
Join us at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church as we explore Romans 4 and discover what it means to trust God completely for our salvation.
