First of all, Janice and I would like to thank you for you kindness and generosity toward us
through the Christmas season. You are such a blessing to us and we are grateful for you. We
look forward to what God wants to do in and through us in the year ahead and pray this New
Year will be a great year for you and your family.
As I consider the New Year, I am grateful that we will have new leadership in Washington
D.C., but I am also aware that politicians are not the answer to the greatest needs of this
country. More than anything our country needs a spiritual awakening. We need a genuine
move of the hand of God to turn hearts back to Him and to make us a Christian nation once
again.
Despite what many so-called historians want to tell us today, our country was founded by
people that had a high view of the Word of God and loved the Lord. Yes, there were a few
that did not but for the most part our founding fathers knew that God had a clear hand in establishing
our country. We would not be here today if it had not been for the work of God on
so many levels in the earliest years of this nation.
Jim Logan shared a prayer with me that Billy Graham prayed for our country, and I think it
would be very fitting for us to pray this prayer as we look toward 2025.
Our Father and Our God,
We praise You for Your goodness to our nation, giving us blessings far beyond what
we deserve. Yet we know all is not right with America. We deeply need a moral and spiritual
renewal to help us meet the many problems we face. Convict us of sin. Hel us to turn to You
in repentance and faith. Set our feet on the path of Your righteousness and peace. We pray
today for our nation’s leaders. Give them the wisdom to know what is right, and the courage
to do it. You have said, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” May this be a new era
for America, as we humble ourselves and acknowledge You alone as our Savior and Lord.
That prayer is a good prayer for us to pray for our nation. Would you pray that at least one
day a week for the month of January? If the Lord leads maybe even every day in January!
Either way, let’s pray that God will work in our hearts and in the hearts of this nation to turn
us back to Him so we might be One Nation Under God once again.
