I can hardly believe it is already spring and that we are now moving into the month of April. Growing up in Augusta, April always meant one thing…The Masters. Richmond County Schools always did spring break Masters Week which is always the first full week of April. I can still remember going to the tournament as a boy and continuing on as an adult. It was an event that I always looked forward to and was blessed to get to enjoy for many years. There simply is nowhere else in the world of golf that is anything like The Augusta National and people literally travel from all over the world just to come and see that amazing place and the first major of the year.
For the excitement that April would always bring I am more excited about the fact that we usually celebrate Easter in April. This year, of course, it falls on April 16th and we are planning a special day. I hope you have been praying for those that you know that are not in church and hopefully have already given out some invitations to join us on Easter Sunday. The theme is “Start Your New Beginning” and we have an opportunity to be a part of God working in someone else’s life. We have an opportunity to help someone start fresh in spite of the mess that life has heaped upon them. We know that becoming a Christian doesn’t fix everything but it does make life so much better because we realize we have a purpose here and we can trust God to be with us as we try to fulfill His purpose for our lives.
The schedule for Sunday will be a little different since we will begin the day with a Sunrise Service at 7am followed by breakfast at 7:45 in the fellowship hall. We have moved up Sunday School to 8:45 and Worship to 10 so that there is not a big gap in between these things. Use those invitation cards to inform folks that haven’t been for some time or use them to invite people that you know are not in church. Post it on your Facebook page or make a phone call to invite people to be in God’s house on Easter Sunday.
The Saturday before Easter we will once again be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at the Recreation Department. Join us for that event and help us show our community the love of Christ by being there to encourage them and letting them know that we truly do care. If you can help us be at the Recreation Department at 6pm so that we can get set up and assign everyone something to do. The event will begin at 7:30 and the egg hunt will be the last thing we do then we will have to break down everything and get it back to the church. Thanks in advance for being so supportive and having a heart to reach out to our community.
God is doing great things through His people at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Thanks for being a part of making known the glory of God in Gilmer County!
