We are living in perilous times. I am not trying to be negative, but I think we would all agree there is a lot going on in the world today that should be a cause for concern. The moral compass of our culture has shifted so hard that morality barely exists anymore. There are those in this country that want a society that not only allows everything but celebrates it and cancels those that speak against it. Now, more than ever, we Christians need to stand for the truth of God’s Word and lovingly proclaim the truth.

Many in our culture think that you are being mean if you tell the truth. Many in the church think you are not being loving if you tell people the truth about sin. Unfortunately, many in the church don’t understand that truth and love are inseparable because they are found in one person, Jesus! Jesus is the personification of love and truth, and He could not have made that clearer than He does in John 14:6 when He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” He didn’t say I know truth, or even that He was speaking the truth, though He was speaking the truth, He said that He is truth

In 1 John 4 we see where John makes it clear that God is love.

NAU 1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
Again, the text does not say God knows about love or that He loves, it says, He is love. The very nature of God is Love. The very nature of God is truth

Consequently, if we want to reflect the nature of God to the culture around us, we must love enough to want them to know the truth. Love and Truth are found in a person, in Jesus Christ.

In these perilous times may we build our lives upon Love and Truth, upon Jesus Christ! May we also model His love to those around us and do all that we can to introduce them to real love and truth as we share Jesus with them. Pray for the lost around you, knowing that they need to meet Love and Truth in Jesus.

In His Amazing Grace, Dan
