We are just one month into the New Year and I can imagine that many, perhaps most, of the New Year’s resolutions have already been broken. We come into the year with great expectations and plans, but often don’t put details to the goals or plans and therefore make it very difficult on ourselves to keep our resolutions. For instance, we say we want to work out more this year, but we don’t define what that means. If you are not working out at all you could set a goal of three times a week, if you are already doing three times a week you could increase it to five. That is tangible, the first method of just saying more isn’t all that helpful.

I want to challenge us as a church to reach more people for Christ this year.  In doing so, I am going to put forth some tangible steps to making that happen rather than just leaving it out there without any handles. So here are some steps to being a church, a body of believers, that reaches lost people for the Kingdom of God.

First of all, make a list of at least three people you know that are lost. Put that list in a place that you will see it every day and pray for their salvation every day. Make sure at least one of those is someone that actually lives in Ellijay! The prayer doesn’t need to be long but pray for God to work in their heart and to give you opportunities to share with them.

Secondly, ask God to help you point at least one person to Him this year. You might bring them to church, you might bring them to an event, you may even share your testimony of faith with them.  Whatever you do ask God to help you identify at least one person to bring to Him this year.

Third, be intentional about telling at least one person every week about Jesus. It could be the same person that you have built a relationship with that you know needs Jesus. It may be a different person every week, regardless, ask God to open your eyes to those around you that need Him and be willing to tell them about Him.

If just 50 people in the church took this seriously imagine how different this church will be if 50 new people come to Christ this year! I think that would create a lot of excitement in the body and for the Kingdom of God. We can be a part of a great work of God, but we can’t sit on the sideline hoping it will happen. Partner with me and take this challenge. It could mean the difference in someone’s eternity!

In His Amazing Grace,
Dan
