At the writing of this article I am exactly a week away from seeing my son graduate high school. It seems a little hard to believe that it is almost here, but it is definitely one of those things that you want to see happen in life. We spend far too many days wishing something would finally happen and, in the process, squander the moments along the way.  I am not one to dwell on the past, and while I have made more than my share of mistakes, I don’t constantly sit around thinking about what could have been. I am sure that I didn’t spend enough time with Brooks through the years, I am sure that I wasted time that I was with him, nevertheless I can’t control yesterday, only today!

In just a few days, Hailey will be returning from Thailand and by the time you read this she will already be home. What seemed like an eternity 10 months ago has passed by and is not even a dot on the timeline of eternity. I am so glad she is coming home, and I can’t wait to hug her and experience her presence once again. I am grateful for technology and the fact that I have seen her face and heard her voice. I am glad that I have been able to keep in touch with her so easily, but nothing is like being able to be in her presence.

You may look at your spiritual journey with God and realize that you have squandered days.  You have not studied or prayed as much as you should have. You have not shared your faith as much as you should have! You have not been as kind or compassionate as you should have been! Nevertheless, yesterday is gone and you can only control what you do today and going forward.  God forgets the past when we confess it for the sin that it is, so we need to forgive ourselves. Don’t live looking backward.

God longs for your presence the way that I am longing for Hailey’s presence right now, He wants to be with you, He wants you to experience Him as well. You don’t have to wait another moment to enter His presence and technology can never stop you from experiencing Him. Open up His Word and spend some time with Him, you may find out He is what your heart has really been longing for all along. God never loses touch with us, but we do shut Him out. Open up those lines once again so you can reduce regrets for tomorrow.

In His Amazing Grace,
Dan
