As I write this article I am sitting at my mother’s bedside as she spends her last moments on this earth. I am so grateful to know that she placed her faith in Christ as a young girl and truly sought to live a Christian life. My mother was not perfect, but she always sought to put God first in her life and then her family. I can honestly say that I have never doubted her love for me or her love for God. There were a few times I was pretty sure she didn’t like me in the moment, (I made a few bad decisions along the way), but I always knew she loved me. Knowing that she is prepared to meet Jesus gives me great comfort right now!
There are others in my life that I am not so certain of, friends and family that I just don’t know for sure that they know Jesus and some I am sure don’t know Jesus. In light of that I am praying that God will give me opportunities to share my faith with them. One way we can share our faith with our friends and loved ones in Ellijay, this month, is to invite them to come hear Dr. Frank Turek on Saturday, August 17th, from 10am to 3pm. Dr. Turek will be speaking on the subject I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist. Dr. Turek co-authored this book with Dr. Norman Geisler and for those struggling with those hard life questions, this can help them see and understand logically that it actually takes less faith to believe in God than to be an atheist or believe in evolution.
The cost for this event is only $10 and the registration fee includes lunch. You can register at our website www.pleasantgrovebc.com. Please support this event with your presence and bring someone with you. This will only strengthen your faith and if you have a friend that has questions about the faith this will be a good event to bring them to. There will be a question and answer time where Dr. Turek will take questions from the audience. He is very good at thinking on his feet and addressing people’s questions, so I encourage you to encourage your friends to ask questions.
Also, in August, we have revival services scheduled for August 25th-28th, 11am Sunday morning and 6:30pm nightly. Bucky Kennedy will be back with us this year and you know Bucky doesn’t water down the Word of God. Join us for this time and pray for God to prepare our hearts for this revival. Sunday we will have special music from Renee’ Hall. Renee’ was my music director in Lincolnton and she has a real heart for the Lord and a great voice. Monday through Wednesday night Eric Colson will join us and share some special music. Pray for all those who will lead us in revival. August is going to be a busy month but let’s pray that we will see many people added to the Kingdom. Life is too short to waste time on things that don’t impact eternity.
