As I was cleaning off my desk for the first time in a while, I ran across a note that I had written with a scripture verse on it. I scratched my head and pondered but never could remember the reason that I had written it. You see, I had left off one important piece of information from the note – why I had written it!

This year during Vacation Bible School our theme verse was from the gospel of John:

“But these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.” John 20:31

Part of the VBS core curriculum taught each year are the ABC’s of becoming a Christian. A- admit to God that you are a sinner and repent to Him, B – believe that Jesus is God’s Son and receive God’s gift of forgiveness, and C – confess your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and you will have eternal life in His name.

Thankfully, the Apostle John did not make the same mistake that I did, he made sure that everyone knew why he recorded Jesus’ miracles in the Gospel; “so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.”

Now that is something worth writing about!

Blessings,
Jeff
