Merry Christmas friends at Pleasant Grove.  It’s that time of year.  What do you do to get ready?  Do you get down the decorations? Do you pull out favorite recipes?  Do you make lists? Do you start writing cards? Do you get out Christmas records or CD’s ? There is one thing you MUST do.  Plan for the Week of Prayer for International Missions and your Lottie Moon Offering.  Read the stories of the missionaries each day and pray for their needs.  Get out your checkbook and make a gift to Lottie before you spend it on gifts. Don’t use leftover money.  Make this a priority. Pray for the lost around the world to come to know Jesus Christ. You will be blessed as you bless others.

When you are at church this month go to the library and see the selection of Christmas books on display.  Here are a few to consider:

“Home for the Holidays”  “Silent Star”  “An Amish Christmas”  “Christmas Comes to Bethlehem” “God Came Near”
“The Jesus I Never Knew”  “ Just Give Me Jesus”  and others.

Remember the true meaning of Christmas and you can be at peace with the hustle and bustle of the season the world promotes. Take time to honor Jesus’ birthday by reading your Bible, coming to church, coming to hear the choir sing the special music, inviting a friend to come with you, and giving to the mission programs of our church.  Pray for the children who will receive the Christmas shoeboxes we packed.  Bring your children to the library during December and they will receive a special gift to tell them the true meaning of Christmas. Adults we have books and bookmarks for you.  God bless you all.

Merry Christmas from Shirley, Phyllis, Jeanette, and Kim.
