March is when we get to spring forward with our clocks, and I always look forward to when we have more daylight at the end of the day. The short days of winter can be a real downer although I know we need some cold days to help kill the bugs and I do enjoy seeing some views we don’t get to see when the trees are covered with leaves. Still, daylight savings time always makes me feel like spring is upon us.

This month we have a couple of events that provide you with an opportunity to invite people to church. The first event is the Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday March 23rd, at 11:00am. This will be held at the pavilion and lunch will be served. There will be about 5,000 plastic eggs that will take 30 or more minutes to scatter, and the kids will have them picked up in about five minutes. This would be a great time to invite any friends or neighbors that have children to bring them to the egg hunt. There will be free food and prizes!

Easter is Sunday March 31st this year. We will have a sunrise service at the pavilion at 7:30am followed by breakfast. Bible Study will be at 8:45 and worship will be at 10:00. I want to encourage you to write down at least two names to be praying for leading up to Easter. Pray that God would work in their hearts and ask God to give you an opportunity to invite them. That might seem like a small thing but a recent survey I saw showed that 86% of people who come to a church for the first time come because someone they knew invited them. The same survey said that 6% come for the first time because the pastor invited them! You see, you are more important in that regard! You get them here and I will do my best to preach the unfiltered Word of God.

I hope you know how grateful I am to serve alongside you, and it is a joy for us to call Pleasant Grove our church home. I think we have the best church in Gilmer county although we are not in competition with anyone else. Let’s work to invite others to be a part of this family but more importantly, to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
