Have you noticed the bulletin board outside the church office? It is no longer to promote the library but will be promoting MISSIONS. Currently there are pictures from our June trip to Townsend, TN. There will be pictures, letters, articles from around the world as well as locally for you to read and pray for. We are planting seeds and God will give the increase. These are people YOU support with your offerings.

Our library keeps getting new books and I would like to tell you about a few. Our newest books are displayed on shelves and tables inside and outside the library.

One of our own Ellijay writers, Mark Millikin, has a new book out called, “Wild, But True Stories of the Outdoors.” He gives wonderful descriptions of hiking and camping with scouts or friends in the North GA Mountains, especially the Appalachian Trail. Some of the stories are from his mom and dad who gave him this love for the outdoors. If you enjoyed his editorials in the paper you will love these stories.

Another new book is “The Crippled Lamb” by Max Lucado. It is a children’s book but adults will enjoy reading it to their children or grandchildren. The story is about being different and how God will use each person for what he has to offer. It will warm your heart.

Another book is not new except to our library. “Mere Christianity” by  C. S. Lewis. A powerful case for Christian faith in today’s world. It compiles his legendary broadcasts during the war years. Some have asked for this book and now we have it.

Many of our books are being used for memorials to those who have passed on. If you would like to donate a book in memory or in honor of someone, please let me know. There is a list of our memorials in the library so you can see what has been given.

On a more personal note, I would like to announce that John and I will be celebrating our 50th anniversary this July 13. It is a big time for our family to come together to celebrate.  God has blessed us so many ways these past 50 years and I want to give Him Praise and thanksgiving for all He has allowed us to do for HIM.

My favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 40:31. “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with eagles wings, they shall run and not be weary and they shall walk and not faint.”  Truly our strength comes from  the Lord. Praise His name.
